Our wedding was food was AMAZING. The menu we chose included beef tips with mushroom wine sauce, Tuscan chicken, wild rice, duchess potatoes, maple glazed baby carrots, with a plated salad and rolls. Everything went very smoothly for the wedding. Good communication via lots of emails, helpful with suggestions and service the day of the wedding was very professional and friendly. We weren’t able to do a tasting before hand so was a little nervous but food was delicious and portions were very generous. Would recommend the Beefs skewers and stuffed mushrooms for apps. We had chicken, brisket, scalloped potatoes, green beans and vegetarian stir fry, all were cooked perfectly! The dessert buffet was fun too. Thank you Distinctive Catering!

They are excellent at dietary accommodations and are entirely peanut and tree nut free and most of their food avoids adding gluten or dairy if not needed, such as baked chicken without breading or green beans with margarine instead of butter. They even offer a special dietary restriction plate. So many guests said how appreciative they were for the dietary accommodations. DC let me put my own signs out in front of each food item listing if it had dairy or gluten which is nice for my guests. DC has tasting events and I highly recommend attending.

We did their food tasting and overall were underwhelmed. Everything was great! To feed that many people we were expecting just okay food, but it turned out way better. Other than the bartenders being delightful with our guests I didn’t really notice any of the other workers throughout the night. They snuck in set the food and snuck the leftovers back out. I would recommend anyone to look into using them! Made everything on the food and drink end easy!

Leading up to the wedding day, communication was thorough and responses were very quick. They let us know everything to expect and how it will happen the day of. Setting up the day before our wedding, we had a few linens short and the napkins were missing. They hand delivered them to our venue on 2 separate occasions which was so helpful. On the wedding day, they arrived on time. The staff was dressed and appeared so professionally. They set up and took down quickly all while serving on time. Working with Distinctive Catering was great from the food tasting to days after the wedding. They were easy to talk to and got back quickly when I had questions. We did the ultimate signature buffet and upgraded to full service which I am so glad that we did. Picking up linens and returning them was incredibly easy. The food at the wedding was so good! We got so many compliments on everything. There was some miscommunication and confusion around leftovers at the end of the night so I would recommend that you tell them right away on wedding day that you want to keep your leftovers. That was the only “issue” we had which isn’t even a big deal. Kelli talked to me on the phone about it and said that is something they will improve on in the future so I appreciate them listening to my concerns and taking action. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them!

We loved our experience with DC! They were very responsive through the whole planning process. The food was absolutely delicious, and we got many compliments on it the whole evening. Plated table service was prompt and orderly. We didn’t get to utilize this option, but they will donate extra food to a charity of your choice, or even box it up if guests would like to take some home. Many caterers don’t allow this anymore so this was so cool to know! Our bartender was amazing as well. An hour into the night she had memorized most guest’s drink orders and had them ready as they approached the bar. She went above and beyond. Most bar services water drinks down as well, and this was not the case for us which was great. Can’t recommend enough!

We hired DC for our daughters wedding on 9/24/22 for a headcount of 180. Everything went smoothly – the set up, apps, clean-up were great. The quality of the chicken chardonnay was outstanding and so was the beef tips. We also offered prime rib on the buffet and that was good. Not quite as flavorful as we had hoped but it was very satisfying. There were 0 complaints about the food – only positive comments from the guests.

We chose the ultimate buffet: chicken Marsala, beef tenderloin with Bordelaise sauce, wild rice, duchess potatoes, and green beans. The green beans were a little over cooked in my opinion but maybe that’s how they cook them as softer. The chicken was only a little dry, but I would order it all over again if I could other than the green beans. Everyone was pleased with the food. The bar staff was so nice and attentive to my needs as the bride. Very friendly! The wait staff was amazing with clearing plates and the buffet in a timely fashion. As well as some rocking out to our last song of the night, Bohemian Rhapsody! Price reviewed is for 164 people bar and food, both the top packages.

Distinctive Catering was an absolutely amazing team to work with for my wedding. The first thing I noticed was the extremely speedy replies when I had inquiries via email. I would get replies within minutes. They were so kind and helpful with all of my questions. We hired them for our Bar service only for our Grand Rapids Wedding at Studio D2D. The bartenders were both so kind and friendly to my guests. They made the night fun and we were very happy to have them. I was nervous to run out of Miller Lite as my family is large and tends to drink that more than the craft drinks. They assured me that we would not – we did- but it was not noticed because they went and got more without skipping a beat and no one even knew it! That alone was incredible. Highly recommend this company for their attentiveness, kindness, professionalism and overall great experience with them!

Had a great experience with DC! They catered our wedding and did a fabulous job! We could not be more thrilled with how smooth everything went. From the food tasting, to commutation between tasting and wedding, and then how well everything went on the special day. It was absolutely awesome.
Highly recommend the chicken pot pie. I know, not very “wedding food” type, but you will be amazed and your guest will not stop complementing it! Meatballs are also a must! For the amount of food and the quality of it, it is worth the price. Self serve so you can try everything as well and get as much as you want. We absolutely loved DC!

The team at Distinctive Catering was so easy to work with. Trying to plan a wedding during a pandemic was nerve wracking to say the least. We were lucky it was during a time when things opened up a bit. Through all of it though Lindsay was a true professional . She answered all of our hundreds of questions in a very timely manner. The staff who was at our wedding was so nice!! We had the pig roast and added roasted chicken. During the months since we keep getting messages from our guests saying it was the best food they’ve had at a wedding. We had the option of taking all the leftovers home or they will donate to a local homeless shelter. We asked if we could have half and donate half and they were very accommodating. At several points during the night they even asked us if they could get us anything; they really went above and beyond. Book with Distinctive Catering…you won’t be disappointed.

The bride and groom that I worked for hired this catering company when their venue was not able to hold their wedding at their original location. We hired DC about 3 weeks before the wedding and their responsiveness and professionalism all around was impressive. Because of the short time frame, we took a leap of faith and hired this company without a taste testing. This was scary as this is not something we would normally do but it worked out better than we could have imagined. At our event, the staff was on time, helpful, and professional. The food was amazing, and we recieved compliments all night long! The prime rib was so tasty! Another great feature about this company was everything was gluten free which was a huge plus. We live around the lansing area, and they traveled from Grand Rapids. We would recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a top notch caterer!

It was a very warm day and that added to the already COVID situation we are going through right now made for the potential of not such a great experience. BUT, your employees did not act as if either the COVID or warm/humid day were effecting their performance. They were all extremely friendly, went above and beyond to adjust to the conditions of the day, were some of the hardest working people I have ever seen, were respectful of each other and all the guests, were flexible with some last minute changes without any hesitations, worked extremely well together. I think Ashley deserves a huge praise because I believe that she was respected by the others, and yet did her job as one of the others. This is a huge thing when the “in charge” person is working alongside of and just as hard as those she is leading. Kudos to her!!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars because The Harris Building and the entire staff deserve WAY more than 5 stars. The venue itself was more than we could’ve imagined. From the exposed brick to the wooden beams across the ceiling, it’s a unique and gorgeous building. Truly one of a kind. The valet parking is a major plus especially with its location in downtown Grand Rapids. The staff is just as, if not more, exceptional than the building itself. They were so dedicated to making sure we had the most perfect wedding ceremony and reception. They made everything so effortless, seamless, and flawless. Karri and Ashley are beyond incredible. They kept our day on schedule and made sure everything ran smoothly. They made sure they had everything just the way we wanted it. The in-house florist, Aime, is phenomenal. She did all our floral pieces and they turned out absolutely incredible. She is so passionate about her work and it really shows. The in-house DJs, Bradley and Josh, were total rockstars. They kept the dance floor full all night long. They also made sure we had drinks for dinner and even ran up and grabbed my phone for me. There were other staff members that provided light while we were trying to bustle my dress. The entire staff is super easy and great to work with. They are super responsive with emails and text messages. There wasn’t a moment I was stressed or wondering what was next. They really took all the worries from us and put us at ease. They handled everything for us and made sure we could enjoy our night. Our wedding was absolutely perfect thanks to The Harris Building and its entire staff. To us, they weren’t just venue staff, they were wedding guests and friends. They really made our day memorable and I’m beyond happy that they were able to share in the day with us. We used Distinctive Catering for our daughter’s wedding. The food, both appetizers, and dinner was amazing. We did the Create Your Own Smokin’ BBQ Buffet. They were very professional and got right down to business the moment they arrived. Everything was set up perfectly and they were flexible in bumping up the time of dinner the day of. They put all the leftover food in pans and refrigerated for us to take home. We used their bar service also and the girls there related well to the guests. They even took all the linens back for me so I didn’t have to. The girls in the office promptly answered all the questions I had leading up to our special day. The venue was absolutely beautiful and made our wedding vision truly come to life. The venue comes with a fair bit of decoration which reduced the amount of decoration and rentals that we were required to provide. The prices were extremely reasonable for all rentals (tables, chairs, linens, flatware, ect.) included a great menu selection and a great bar package. The staff was helpful, friendly, and provided wonderful customer service. We received so many compliments on the food as well as the overall venue. Absolutely wonderful venue. We’ve been to a total of 3 here, including our own, and have been impressed every time. Prices are very affordable and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of. Our lead server for the night also made it her priority to take care of the bridal party as well as the parents of the bride and groom. We did the signature buffet and all of our guests seemed to love it, I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback.

My husband and I were looking for a venue with an urban/industrial feel with exposed bricks and beams. Waddell Center delivered just that at a reasonable prices compared to other options in the area. They also redid and updated the entire interior of the venue after I booked and it looked amazing for the wedding day! In additional to being a nice location, the coordinator, Sarah, and any other staff I worked with were great. Very quick responses and accommodating to any requests or questions I had. The only hiccup was that when we came the day before to decorate, the tables were set up differently than what we discussed. However, the staff member that was there immediately fixed the problems and got us what we needed, which was helpful. Also, we had a great experience with the food and bar through Distinctive Catering. The food was great and we had multiple guests come up and tell us it was one of the best wedding food and bar service they ever had. All in all, we are so happy we booked with Waddell Center. They made everything easy and our reception was beautiful and a blast.

We were very pleased. When we arrived, everything was setup beautifully. My son opted for the Budget Buffet, but then he and his fiancé upgraded to the Tuscan Chicken – great choice! Many people commented on the excellent food. The service was outstanding, and I appreciated that you were so accommodating about serving Chicken Fingers to the children. There was plenty of food and we took home trays of leftovers.
